Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, former chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at Food Network. Food Network. With her trademark spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers simple, easy-to-learn techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also worked at some of New York's top establishments, studied the Italian food and culture, and was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in Upstate New York Chef Burrell was inspired by food. She pursued her passion for food and restaurant by enroling at The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America student. I was awed by every moment." It was hard to study how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduating at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, chef Burrell took a full year in Italy learning and working in La Taverna del Lupo restaurant located in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 one Michelin rating in Tuscany. It was during this time that her experience in Italy has helped her understand and appreciate Italian way of life and its culture which has had an impression on her culinary perspective. Burrell is a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of children facing difficulties. She also serves as a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador where she advocates for the awareness of juvenile diabetes. She speaks about her cooking passion, and also shares her experiences in the food world, as she regularly goes on trips across the USA in the roles of mentors and speakers. Anne was always grateful that she had the opportunity to share her love that she had for cooking with others.
